American Repertory Ballet's "Summer Series" features famed choreographer Trey McIntyre's Blue Until June, which The Washington Post calls "lyrical, sensual and has a bit of a sense of humor." McIntyre's work is set to songs by the incomparable Etta James, and says: "The piece is very much a combination of very athletic, classical technique but, breaking out of that, stretching to its limits."
The program opens with the joyous Paquita, classical ballet with a mazurka for Princeton Ballet School students and a myriad of variations in celebration of the dynamic principal dancers. "Summer Series" also includes a world premiere commissioned by up-and-coming choreographer Colby Damon, who has also created work for companies such as Philadelphia's BalletX.
